About the Position
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) seeking a qualified Fiscal Technician to provide support provide support to the Finance & Administration Branch. This position is responsible for performing job functions such as but not limited to accurately and promptly processing employee payable transactions for payroll and travel; providing assistance to the Payroll and Accounts Payable Accountants; and serving as a backup for the Accounts Payable Fiscal Technician with all other accounts payable and financial transactions to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth’s accounting policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

•Experience demonstrating the ability to process payroll, travel, and accounts payable expenditures.
•Experience demonstrating ability to accurately reconcile financial documents of moderate complexity.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to accurately enter data.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to interpret and apply state/federal rules and regulations.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to apply an analytical approach to solving problems.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and organized in a fast-paced dead-line driven environment.
•Experience demonstrating interpersonal skills to be a team player and provide customer service to all levels of internal and external customers.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all levels of staff and management.
•Experience demonstrating an advanced proficiency and skills using Microsoft Office Suite software applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and other related programs such as Internet Explorer.

Additional Considerations

•Experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of fiscal policies and procedures relating to accounts payable and accounts receivable principles in accordance with DOA and DFP regulations.
•Proficiency in State-specific systems such as Cardinal and electronically filing 1099s.
•Knowledge of the CAPP Manual and related topics.

This position may work up to 29 hours a week, but no more than a maximum of 1500 working hours allowed in a 12-month period from May 1 to April 30.
