Job Duties
The SharePoint and Collaboration Solutions Architect leads the design, development, and governance of the VEC’s enterprise web and intranet platforms. This role is responsible for architecting SharePoint Online environments, developing content and workflows, and ensuring compliance with accessibility and cybersecurity standards. The incumbent will lead enterprise-level projects, create performance dashboards using tools like Power BI, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative digital solutions. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, conducting code reviews, and maintaining governance documentation to support platform adoption and continuity.

Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience in SharePoint Online architecture, development, and administration, including site collections, permissions, metadata, and content types.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools and services, including Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI), Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive integration.
Strong knowledge of web development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JSON, REST APIs, and SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-level IT projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, and post-deployment support.
Proven experience in developing and enforcing governance policies for digital content, intranet platforms, and collaboration tools.
Ability to analyze communication and web performance data using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel to inform strategic decisions.
Strong understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1, Section 508), cybersecurity best practices, and compliance with Commonwealth IT policies.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Experience mentoring junior staff, conducting code reviews, and promoting best practices in development and documentation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments, manage competing priorities, and adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
Additional Considerations
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level intranet or collaboration platforms in a government or public sector environment.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management methodologies.
Experience integrating SharePoint with external systems using REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, or Azure Logic Apps.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Communications, or a related field.
Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate, Power Platform App Maker Associate, SharePoint Administrator Associate.
Knowledge of DevOps practices, including version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
Experience developing and delivering training programs or user documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong understanding of digital accessibility, user experience (UX) design, and content strategy.
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
