Job Duties
The Senate of Virginia is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to fill a temporary paid
internship position in the Committee Operations area of the Senate Clerk’s Office during the 2026
session of the General Assembly, January 12, 2026 – March 10, 2026. The position will provide onsite
administrative and logistical support to Senate standing committees and subcommittees and also
provide information to the public using the Legislative Information System (LIS). This is a non-benefited,
temporary, paid internship.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the ability to multitask and work effectively with committee members,
other elected officials, staff, and the public in a demanding customer service environment; have
demonstrable proficiency with current technology; and have the ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
Completion of a four-year undergraduate degree is required.
Additional Considerations
Experience with or knowledge of the legislative process is a plus. The ability to demonstrate strong
verbal and written communication skills is an ideal qualification.
