Job Description
The Norfolk State University School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2026. We seek a dynamic scholar-teacher in Entrepreneurship who is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and service. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, maintain an active research agenda consistent with AACSB standards, mentor students, contribute to curriculum development and program assessment, and engage in service to the School, University, and profession. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in the relevant discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution (ABD considered with completion by start date) is required, along with evidence of, or potential for, effective teaching and scholarly productivity.
Job Duties
The faculty member will be responsible for:
1. Teaching a range of courses in Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship-related
courses.
2. Conducting research in Entrepreneurship
3. Providing service at the departmental, school, university, and community levels.
4. Supporting the school’s commitment to maintain AACSB International
accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in entrepreneurship or in business administration from an AACSB accredited institution. ABD considered, degree must be conferred prior to hire.
Additional Considerations
1. Entrepreneurial experience is a plus.
2. Research and teaching experience related to entrepreneurship.
3. Applicants who received their Ph.D. five years ago or earlier should have at least two refereed journal articles and three other intellectual contributions in the most recent five years.
4. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, personal integrity, and a commitment to diversity.
