Following a direct protocol, policy or procedure or order from a licensed provider provides technical support to professional medical and nursing staff. Duties consist of the following routine clinical tasks: collection of laboratory specimens, performing adult venipuncture and adult and pediatric capillary sticks, and performing clinical laboratory tests to include hemoglobin, hematocrit, glucose, urine pregnancy, fecal occult blood, sedimentation rate and urine dipsticks. Sterilizes instruments, inventories and orders supplies, maintains logs, files and records, collects clinical data and compiles statistics. Works under the supervision of a licensed provider. Evidence of specific training in performing specialized duties and functions based on area of assignment is required.
VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination

Minimum Qualifications
• Skilled in executing clinical responsibilities as a Healthcare Technician, including prepping patients for medical evaluations, recording vital signs, supporting providers during examinations, and maintaining cleanliness and supply levels in the clinical environment.
• Proficient in conducting patient laboratory procedures as required, alongside managing front-office tasks such as welcoming patients, coordinating appointments, organizing medical records, and utilizing computer systems for administrative support.
• Capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously and adapting to shifting priorities to ensure timely completion of tasks in a dynamic work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to complete documentation with precision and efficiency, ensuring timely submission of required reports. Committed to maintaining a valid driver’s license and complying with Virginia Department of Health (VDH) driver safety protocols.

• Experience as a Nursing Assistant and/or Healthcare Technician in an outpatient clinical setting and/or public health a plus
• Certified as a Nursing Assistant
• Bilingual in Spanish
