Job Duties

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care and support to patients in accordance with established treatment plans, hospital policies, and safety protocols. The PCA assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), observes and reports changes in physical and behavioral status, and actively participates in therapeutic and recovery-focused activities. This role requires maintaining accurate and timely documentation, following operational and attendance procedures, and supporting the overall treatment environment through teamwork and adherence to hospital standards. Additionally, the PCA participates in ongoing professional development by attending mandatory trainings, completing annual in-service hours, and sharing new skills and knowledge with colleagues to enhance patient care and team performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to follow both oral and written instructions and report observations of bio-psychosocial needs and behaviors to licensed nurse in timely manner
• Ability to provide direct patient care under supervision of licensed staff
• Demonstrated ability to provide direct care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Ability to observe, report, and document changes in patient condition accurately and timely.
• Must be able to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and attend required training sessions.

Additional Considerations

• Health care experience preferred
• Long Term Care and Nursing Home experience preferred.
• Previous psychiatric experience preferred
• Knowledge of nursing scope of practice preferred
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred
