Title: 2026 SESSION Finance Specialist

Job Duties

· Assist in the organization and processing of payroll forms for session employees in the following systems:

o Cardinal (Create payroll records based on hire letter/payroll authorization and other required paperwork)

o E-Verify (Process employment verifications using I-9 form submitted by employee)

o Wage-Pay (Add/update records in internal system for House wage employees)

· File payroll paperwork in employee files as instructed by supervisor

· Create electronic records of member travel reimbursement records

· Update spreadsheets maintained for FOIA requests

· Provide assistance in other departments as needed during the General Assembly Session

· Appropriate education and/or professional experience

· Strong attention to detail and oral communication skills

· Appropriate computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office applications)

· Ability to work well under deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance

· Ability to work well in a team environment to accomplish goals and priorities

Additional Considerations

This position will begin on December 3, 2025 and will end on February 27, 2026.  The end date is subject to change depending on the business needs of this office.

General Information


o The 2026 General Assembly Session will convene on January 14, 2026 and is scheduled to adjourn on March 14, 2026.

o Normal office hours during the Session are 8:00/8:30 a.m. to 4:30/5:00 p.m. with an hour break for lunch.

o This position will be paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked. Any hours worked over 40 per week will be paid at the same normal rate of pay.

o During the General Assembly Session, we continue to work on snow days even if state government offices in the Richmond metro area are closed.

o Casual business attire is allowed on non-session days (no blue jeans).

o Session days require professional business attire (e.g. suit jacket and tie for men).

o Parking is available for a monthly fee of $49

The General Assembly Building is located in downtown Richmond and this position is 100% on site.
