Job Duties
The Work at VDH Office of Vital Records impacts the lives of thousands of Virginians every day. This position will oversee the in-person customer services work unit. The daily duties include scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage for the hours of operation, recruitment for vacancies, developing operational reports, coaching and ensuring the continual development of customer services staff, oversee the office cash room, and ensure the staff perform user acceptance testing for all system enhancements that impact the customer services operations, while ensuring the unit meets the established operational goals in conjunction with adhering to VDH policies and procedures. Implement processes that continuously improve the level of customer service provided and responsible for documenting processes and procedures for all customer service duties.

Minimum Qualifications
• Effective leadership and supervisory skills; knowledge of personnel management and demonstrated ability to lead and direct staff; establish and maintain priorities and performance measures; manage staffing needs; provide training and ensure employee development; ability to team build; and provide constructive and specific feedback when appropriate.
• Ability to develop and maintain programs; identify and implement solutions to problems and program enhancements
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with internal and external customers; ability to compose clear and professional correspondence
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner with people from all organizational levels and a diverse customer population
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets and reports to support desired outcomes
Additional Considerations
• Experience overseeing administrative tasks in an in-person customer services environment
• Knowledge of process improvement; financial management; information system operations; report preparation; and relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and policies
• Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and present complex data
• Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
