The Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program at the Virginia Department of Veterans Services is on the hunt for a dynamic Program Lead to take this groundbreaking initiative to the next level. You’ll be the face of MMAC—building partnerships, shaping career pathways, and connecting military-trained professionals to life-changing opportunities in Virginia’s healthcare system. 

Key Responsibilities:

•Leading the MMAC Program and supervision of MMAC staff.

•Hosting events, delivering presentations, and making MMAC a household name in healthcare circles and on military installations.

•Partnering with hospitals, clinics, training providers, colleges, and agencies to build seamless career transitions.

•Managing data, dashboards, and communications to recruit new partners applicants and more.

•Providing direct service support to employers seeking to recruit, hire, train and retain veterans with healthcare experience and job seekers.

•Establishing new pathways for clinical specialties, dentistry, advanced nursing, pharmacy, laboratory sciences, and more


What You Bring to the Table:

•Experience as a Medic or Corpsman or veteran with hands on clinical/healthcare experience.

•A knack for planning, analysis, and decision-making.

•Stellar communication skills and Tech-savviness with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

•The ability to juggle tasks, lead teams, and make things happen.

•A passion for helping others succeed, live work and raise a family in Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications

• Comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, workforce development, and credentialing/licensure processes

• Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations related to healthcare service providers and facilities

• Knowledge of military healthcare roles and their civilian equivalents

• Experience in planning, analysis, and decision-making within programmatic or operational contexts

• Understanding of career pathway development and educational advancement strategies

• Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences

• Strategic planning, program development, and stakeholder engagement

• Event coordination and public speaking

• Data analysis, reporting, and dashboard management

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access

• Ability to build and maintain partnerships with private sector hospitals and healthcare systems

• Ability to independently manage a high volume of work/clients

• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and policies to program operations

• Experience with presentation development and public speaking

• Experience with data management and analysis

• Prior program management and supervision experience

• Prior experience conducting training and developing educational programs.

• Knowledge of administrative, human resources, procurement, and fiscal/budgetary principles.

• Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory and program management principles and practices.

• Experience with identifying and/or providing services/resources to the military population.

• Prior military service as a Combat Medic/68W, Corpsman or Medical Technician/4N0X.

Additional Considerations

Experience in public health, clinical or medical services and prior military service as a healthcare professional with duties similar to a military medic or combination of education and job experience.
