Job Duties

To oversee the daily routines of the therapeutic and leisure programming area which is goal oriented and directed toward changing and/or modifying specific mental, physical, or social behaviors. The staff member will be the primary supervisor of the therapy staff and will assist the Psychosocial Rehab Director in the supervision of the Rehab Department staff members. The Therapy Supervisor must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to understand the purpose of therapeutic programming and adjust treatment groups as needed so that activity interventions are appropriate to the age of the children and adolescents served.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of child/adolescent development as well as psychiatric and behavioral disorders.
• Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques.
• Ability to plan, conduct, and document active treatment interventions for patients using multi-modal techniques and to adapt activities and interventions to varying patient needs.
• Ability to evaluate & report children’s progress to other clinical team members including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and direct care staff.

*at least a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, music therapy, dance and movement therapy, drama therapy, art therapy or psychology/counseling. CTRS, MT-BC, R-DMT, RDT, ATR preferred but certification or licensure required within six months of hire.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working in mental health and/or pediatric settings preferred.
