Job Duties
Purpose of Position: The HR Administrator is responsible for a wide range of human resources functions, ensuring that the company's HR processes run smoothly and effectively. This position involves handling employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, training and development, compliance with employment laws, and general HR support for employees and managers across the organization.
Job Duties Summary
The position is responsible for supporting a wide range of human resources functions, including:
Personnel Transactions
- Process and maintain personnel records related to hiring, terminations, payroll, benefits, and performance.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in HR and payroll systems.
- Conduct employment verifications and prepare reports for personnel compliance.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia policies.
- Advise employees on benefit eligibility and maintain accurate benefit records.
- Process documentation for retirement, leave programs (FMLA, VSDP), unemployment, and insurance.
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Manage payroll documentation, direct deposits, tax forms, and time and attendance records.
- Maintain leave tracking and generate payroll-related reports.
Training & Development
- Develop and deliver training materials based on organizational needs.
- Maintain training records and assess training effectiveness through surveys and feedback.
Talent Acquisition
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including application review, candidate screening, and onboarding.
- Conduct background checks and maintain recruitment data in HR systems.
- Stay current on labor and hiring laws to ensure compliance.
HR Policies & Employee Relations
- Develop and communicate HR policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for employee inquiries and workplace concerns.
- Promote a positive work environment and support employee engagement initiatives.

• Focused attitude under pressure and able to handle multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of Leave Programs such as short and long term disability, FMLA, etc
Additional Considerations
• Experience working in Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential. Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). PHR or SPHR
• Experience working in Cardinal HCM or PeopleSoft
