Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a Senior IT Trainer to join our innovative Office of Information Management—a team dedicated to empowering employees through technology and advancing the agency’s vital public health mission. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the digital learning experience for professionals across in the Commonwealth, designing and delivering impactful IT training programs that strengthen digital literacy, improve efficiency, and support data-driven public health initiatives. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams to identify learning needs, craft engaging instructional materials, and lead interactive training sessions that make technology accessible and effective for all users.
As a Senior IT Trainer, you’ll also be developing user guides and knowledge-based articles, and providing outstanding customer support that fosters confidence and self-sufficiency. Minimum Qualifications
• Considerable years of experience designing and managing comprehensive training strategies.
• Considerable years of experience developing high-quality materials for Learning & Development (L&D).
• Proven ability to train diverse groups in remote/virtual, hybrid, and in-person office/classroom environments.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into easily comprehendible material.
• Strong servant leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide teams to achieve organizational goals and foster collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Strong skills in IT Training & Development, Digital Transformation, Process Automation, Workflow Optimization, Project Management, Change Management, Organizational Strategy, Department & Program Building, IT Governance, Cybersecurity Frameworks & Best Practices, Regulatory Compliance, Communication, Vendors & Partnerships, Stakeholder Engagement, Team Collaboration, and Resource Allocation.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Loop, SharePoint, and Teams
• Advanced Knowledge, Skills, and Experience in Microsoft Visio, Box, Kahoot, Service Now Employee Center Pro, Canva, and Adobe
• Proficiency in creating reports, data analysis, and creating professional level presentations
• Adept at remote work technologies and virtual collaboration to deliver training and interact with team
• Experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting virtually
• Proficiency in web conferencing and desktop sharing tools: Microsoft Teams
Additional Considerations
• Engagement with ServiceNow University (on-line platform) and successfully completing a micro-certification or equivalent credential.
• Previous Healthcare IT Training Experience: Experience training public health professionals in IT systems.
• Experience in supporting a Commonwealth of Virginia Executive Branch Agency
• Knowledge and Experience working with Virginia Information Technologies Agency
• Experience in classroom moderation, teaching theory, interactive instruction, development of job aids, Service Now knowledge base articles, and e-learning modules within TRAIN.
• Experience with VITA billing Financial Management
• Experience with help desk operations and Service Now ITSM and VITA service portal
