About the Agency
The Department of Elections promotes and supports accurate, fair, open and secure elections for the citizens of the Commonwealth. ELECT ensures the proper administration of election laws, campaign finance disclosure compliance, and voter registration processes in the state by promulgating rules, regulations, issuing instructions, and providing information to local Electoral Boards and general registrars.
The Department of Elections envisions a highly modern, efficient and professional electoral process that is trustworthy and accountable at all levels and engages Virginia’s diverse citizenry in the most fundamental right in a democratic society: the right to vote.
About the Position
This position will assist in the advancement of organizational initiatives, including managing multidivisional projects, analyzing and updating annual reports and plans, participating in strategic and agency planning efforts, supporting continuous process improvement efforts across the agency, and responding to emerging organizational needs with the willingness to apply specific knowledge, skills and ability to ELECT management and divisions. This position will also build strong working relationships with management and staff to foster a collaborative culture across divisions and functional areas. This position will assist with records retention.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience facilitating cross functional discussions and gaining consensus.
• Experience writing reports and delivering presentations.
• Experience analyzing and synthesizing information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Proficient at issue and risk identification, analysis, mitigation, and resolution.
• Experience integrating information (e.g. stakeholder feedback, research, data, and analysis) into deliverables such as white papers, business process changes, action plans, etc.
• Experience interpreting legislation and statutes.
• Experience identifying and developing solutions that implement changes to processes or operations.
• Ability to navigate a fast paced and constantly changing working environment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Experience establishing and tracking project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Demonstrable experience managing multiple assignments.
• Demonstrable organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, goal setting, and flexibility.
• Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills, including drafting reports, preparing presentations, and presenting information to agency staff and management.
• Experience leading work group discussions, identifying and documenting issues, needs, and concerns, and gaining consensus.
• Experience developing productive working relationships and interactions with leadership, colleagues, and third parties.
• Have business awareness and be willing to learn about new topics, laws, and issues affecting elections and the operations of the agency.
• Be a team player.
• Experience learning and successfully using new technology and applications.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in or knowledge of Elections.
• Considerable knowledge and experience in Public Administration, Strategy and Organizational Management, or related field.
