Job Duties
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses focusing on theory, processes, and practices of interdisciplinary research. This individual will also develop and teach courses on regionally relevant topics that are addressable through interdisciplinary approaches involving the sciences, business, and/or education. They will engage in both face-to-face and online instruction and have an active interdisciplinary research/scholarship agenda. Additionally, this assistant professor will help with university service at the department, college, and university levels.

NOTE: This is not a history or humanities position and the person who fills this job opening
must be in residence to teach classes in person at Norfolk State University’s main campus in Norfolk, VA.
Minimum Qualifications
Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching, and evidence of potential for excellence in research.
Additional Considerations
1. A record of excellence in teaching, research, and/or service
2. A record of teaching and research in Anthropology, Ecology, Geography, Security
Studies, Leadership Studies, Public Health and/or current themes in humans and their
relationship to the environment.
3. Extensive coursework or experience with SPSS, other statistical software and/or GIS
4. Evidence of potential to teach course(s) in the university’s General Education entitled
“Spartan Perspectives on Global Issues”
5. A record of obtaining external grant support
6. A record of contributing to curriculum revision & improvement
