Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Relief Shift Supervisor for the evening shift 3:00 pm-11:30 pm. The schedule for this position is primarily Monday-Friday and may require some weekends as necessary. May serve as Charge Nurse as necessary. The individual will work under the supervision of the Department/Shift Supervisor and will provide supervision to staff and coordinate the organized nursing services and environment in which clinical nursing is practiced for assigned units.
Job Duties
- Conduct unit surveys, coordinating and/or recommending action to resolve observed or reported resident care and procedural or physical problems.
- Resolve departmental staffing issues; attending nursing and other meetings as assigned.
- Manage staff and maintain sound organizational relationships within the facility, while ensuring that continuous quality care is provided.
- Demonstrate leadership and management skills in the effective utilization of staff resources.
- Provide supervision to staff; participate in formulating, interpreting and implementing departmental objectives.
- Provide quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
- Review the effectiveness of resident care plans, departmental and facility administrative policies and procedures.
- Update care plans; give daily reports, and make rounds to observe physical and mental status of residents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in VA.
- At least 1 Year prior experience in leadership or management.
Additional Considerations
- Nursing experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting.
