Job Duties

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to increase Behavior Analytic approaches to care and training in Behavioral Health Hospitals of Virginia, and monitor behavioral services, with the goal of increasing quality of care in measurable ways. This position will support clinical programs and treatment planning in assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of service delivery for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position will also promote best practices implementation in an effective and efficient manner and train and inform providers on the standard of behavioral treatment for the ID/DD population, assist with monitoring training compliance and provide onsite observations of program delivery specializing in ID/DD services, and collaborate with state hospital interdisciplinary teams as needed. A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Commonwealth’s Driver Safety Program are required due to regular statewide travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst
• Knowledge and practical understanding of the dimensions of applied behavior analysis.
• Knowledge of and experience completing behavior assessments, including the use of functional behavior analysis.
• Knowledgeable of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies.
• Knowledge and experience developing and implementing token economies.
• Extensive knowledge of psychiatric/psychological clinical theory, principles, and practices for individuals with ID/DD.
• Knowledge of processes needed to analyze data to improve outcomes and prevent readmissions for individuals with ID/DD.
• Communication skills that result in clear, concise, and accurate verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Knowledge and experience with training and evaluating clinicians in the provision of services and supports for individuals with ID/DD.
• Knowledge of and experience with developing and implementing treatment plans, evaluating the process, and providing feedback and recommendations for improvements for individuals with ID/DD.

Additional Considerations

• Ability to obtain Virginia Licensure as a Behavior Analyst within 6 months of employment.
• Experience working in a behavioral health setting.
• Experience in counseling, social work, psychology, or other related fields.
• Experience following healthcare regulations.
• Experience in a professional work environment, with proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to collaborate successfully with others.
• Ability to work as part of a team to meet the agency's mission and objectives, including working effectively with agency management, employees, state agencies, auditors, and other individuals.
• Ability to manage and motivate people both as individuals and in teams.
• Ability to cope with critical deadlines, multiple assignments, changing priorities, maximize performance and productivity, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
