Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts.
The Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) is seeking to hire an Office Services Specialist for our Charlottesville office. This position will float within the BRHD as needed to support all offices with administrative functions, office coverage and clinical support. We serve the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson and the City of Charlottesville.
The position supports the Health Services by performing administrative task for immunization, Family Planning, STI, TB, Nursing Home Screenings. Pull, file and purge records in accordance with state retention schedules. Assist with mailing and phone appointment reminders, assemble and review client charts for accuracy and completeness, issues program materials as needed. Verify insurance coverage, collect and enters payments, reconcile cash and receipts, prepare and key deposit. Provides back up as needed throughout the district offices of Charlotteville/Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson and performs duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of office and administrative principles and practices
- Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications
- Ability to interpret and follow established procedures and guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing
- Considerable skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
Additional Considerations
- Experience in an office setting specific to program area; experience working in a clinical setting to include registration & determine eligibility; verify insurances, and schedule appointments.
- Experience in preparing and processing deposits; experience in collecting payments, reconcile cash and receipts.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with the public
- Bilingual in Spanish/English or Multilingual
