**This is an onsite position that reports to the office located at 1028 Sykes Boulevard, Vansant VA. This is not a remote work position.** 

Job Duties

Obtains required fact-finding statements from various parties and determines claimant’s eligibility for benefits.

Issues non-monetary determinations on all issues that affect a claimant’s right to past, present, and future benefits accurately and promptly.

Ensures claims are processed and managed in accordance with DOL and agency guidelines and requirements.

Maintains current knowledge and completes mandatory training. Responds to requests for information.

Ensures work area is neat and agency records are effectively managed, allowing for easy retrieval and accessibility. Works assigned schedule and maintains availability.

Perform job duties related to the FTI Offset Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the claims taking process and related rules and regulations governing eligibility.

Strong interpersonal, decision making, and customer service skills.

Ability to obtain and evaluate evidence and render eligibility determinations within tight deadlines; ensure administrative and programmatic requirements are performed; interact effectively with management, technical and non-technical staff, employers, claimants, and the general public; conduct research; collect and analyze data; contribute to a team environment; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Must successfully obtain and demonstrate requisite skill set (knowledge, skills and abilities) for position and meet the certification requirements, as defined by the DOL, to become certified as an agency Hearings Officer no later than one year from the date of hire into the position to remain in position.

Additional Considerations

Experience in unemployment compensation programs.

Demonstrated flexibility and reasonable learning capacity for variance in work assignments.
