Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Dietician to evaluate patients' nutritional status and dietary and nutrition education needs through initial and re-assessment processes and provide appropriate medical nutrition therapy for patients through the development and implementation of individualized nutrition care plans and nutrition education. The Dietician will perform nutritional assessments and determines Nutrition Risk Level for all admissions on assigned units; perform timely reassessments for all patients on assigned wards based on Nutrition Risk Level; utilize the EHR system for assessments and reassessments; ensure Nutrition care plans are age-specific; and ensure nutrition care plans are coordinated with the appropriate treatment team.

This position will also assist with development / revision of patient menus and diets within identified nutritional and budgetary guidelines; research and identify new menu products/recipes and coordinate with production and storeroom for purchase and testing of products in the cook-chill retherm system; monitor patient satisfaction with routine satisfaction surveys and factor results into menu revision decisions; ensure initial diet requests and diet changes are accurately entered into the Net Menu computer system; provide nutrition education classes for patient groups, as assigned; and
assist with development/revision of clinical nutrition policies / procedures / programs based on Joint Commission / other regulatory agency guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university
- Registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a registered dietitian (RD) or RD eligible

- Experience in the field of nutrition gained through work as a dietetic intern, in public health nutrition, institutional dietetics, nutrition research, or related nutrition field
- Bilingual
