Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named after two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units: two 60-bed skilled nursing care units, one 40-bed skilled nursing care unit and one 40-bed secure Alzheimer’s dementia unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Pharmacy technician licensure by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy or National Certification
• Basic mathematics skills including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measurement.
• Working knowledge of pharmacy information systems
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and make decisions independently and effectively
• Able to operate equipment such as computers, packing machines, thermal sealers and tablet counters.
• Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.

Additional Considerations

• Two (2) years of prior pharmacy experience preferred.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Tech in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting preferred
