The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking to hire an Impaired Driving Program Manager in our Highway Safety Office!
The Manager of the Impaired Driving Program leads statewide efforts to enhance road safety. This role is responsible for designing and implementing data-driven safety initiatives, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, and managing public awareness campaigns. The position oversees grant acquisition and compliance, ensuring resources align with strategic objectives to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities. By analyzing traffic data and fostering collaborative partnerships, the manager drives impactful programs that promote safer roadways across Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications
• Comprehensive understanding of traffic safety laws, regulations, and initiatives at state and federal levels, including those established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
• Strong knowledge of performance management practices, including goal setting, feedback, and evaluations.
• Knowledge of behavioral psychology and its application to public safety campaigns.
• Expertise in public relations strategies, including media outreach, crisis communication, and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies, and customer engagement strategies for public outreach.
• Advanced communication skills for engaging diverse audiences and stakeholders effectively.
• Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization to inform strategic decisions and public campaigns.
• Project management skills, including budget oversight, timeline adherence, and change management.
• Skill in building partnerships with public, private, and nonprofit organizations to expand program reach.
• Problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges and drive innovative program design.
• Adaptability to respond to evolving priorities and stakeholder needs in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with organizational goals and performance metrics.
• Competency in interpreting and applying laws, policies, and guidelines effectively.
• Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Analytical ability to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend solutions to improve outcomes.
