Job Duties

This position is with the Department of Corrections’ Infrastructure & Environmental Management Unit (IEMU) located at State Farm's Recycling Center in Goochland Virginia.

To develop and manage a regional recycling program for the Department of Corrections (DOC). Coordinates logistical efforts of material collection, trains inmate workers and staff about various methods of recycling and composting, maintains safety and sanitation of the plant, and is the point of contact for all sales and deliveries of recycled material from the plant.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of recycling and composting practices. Knowledge of applicable safety and sanitation regulations. Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics and transportation of materials. Demonstrated skills related to data collection and organization. Ability to provide effective training to inmate workers and staff. Demonstrated skills and abilities related to providing customer service and building effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels of government and with the public. Demonstrated ability to operate and complete maintenance for forklifts, balers, industrial shredders, and related equipment necessary to process recycled materials. Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Considerations

Preferred knowledge of state procurement regulations. To possess VA Driver’s License with CDL Endorsement. Ability to earn Virginia Waste Management Facility Operator License (Class II) within 18 months of hire date. Prior experience supervising inmates.
