Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. This role will efficiently and safely prioritize workloads through the Operations Manager's guidance in support of facility safety and maintenance. This role will manage, supervise, and assist maintenance trades technicians through scheduling preventative maintenance and repairs within allocated budget, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes, and performing administrative tasks such as inventory management and work order processing.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to supervise trades technicians by establishing performance management standards and effectively managing human capital.
  • Ability to prioritize work and effectively manage capital resources while interacting with internal and external customers.


Must possess a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of all aspects of buildings and grounds maintenance and tools used in perspective areas.
  • Working knowledge in reading/interpreting blueprints/schematics to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA) codes.
  • Intermediate level of computer competency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Considerations

  • Licensure and/or certification in at least one building trade.
