Job Duties:

WWRC is seeking two Housekeepers to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position involves a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks across the campus.

Responsibilities:

• Clean all types of floors, carpets, and stairs by scrubbing, sweeping, stripping, waxing, sealing, wet or dry mopping, or vacuuming to maintain cleanliness.
• Scrub bathroom walls, partitions, showers, bathtubs, lavatories, and commodes; clean and polish chrome and glass fixtures; and bag containers for sanitation purposes.
• Identify asbestos-containing tiles and use proper cleaning procedures. Report loose, chipped, or cracked tiles to the supervisor.
• Clean student/staff lounges and rooms, bathrooms, hallways, cottages, offices, linen closets, vending areas, drinking fountains, kitchens, elevators, and laundries using prescribed detergents, disinfectants, cleaning agents, and polishes as needed.
• Clean woodwork, closets, doors, beds, bulletin boards, windows, walls, furnishings, light fixtures, and equipment as needed.
• Replenish bathroom supplies such as soap, toilet paper, air vents, and paper towels.
• Unclog toilets.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment such as stripping buffers, floor buffers, shower machines, golf carts, and Billy Goat vacuums for smoking areas.
• Pressure wash sidewalks and surfaces.
• Inventory and order cleaning supplies.
• Initiate work orders for corrective actions identified during cleaning.
• Handle procurement responsibilities in accordance with State and Agency guidelines.

Grounds Duties:

• Assist with grounds duties when additional help is needed by providing support with inclement weather events, assist with special events set up on campus for events like graduations, collection and disposal of trash, and moving of furniture during floor cleaning projects.

Emergency Response & Safety Duties:

• Respond to emergency situations and assist with detection, decontamination, and isolation of furniture and clothing during bed bug infestations.
• Assist with packing hot boxes for removal and decontamination.
• Perform MRSA and head lice infection control procedures.
• Detect and report ants, roaches, mice, and other pests to the Environmental Safety Manager.
• Conduct building/office sweeps after renovations, repairs, or moves.
• Identify bloodborne pathogens and implement proper safety measures.
• Rope off, quarantine, or isolate affected areas; place wet floor signs; utilize proper PPE for cleaning; and dispose of infectious materials in red biohazard bags.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

Knowledge of cleaning techniques and practices; and of use of cleaning supplies and equipment

Skills/Abilities:

Physical ability to perform reasonably strenuous housekeeping tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching and squatting are required.

Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions; and to work effectively with diverse customers.
