Job Duties
Virginia Beach Health District is seeking a Storekeeper who will be responsible for independently receives, classifies, and stores incoming stock; pulls, packs, and ships orders assigned by supervisor. Ensures incoming and outgoing orders are checked against invoice/packing list. Counts and inventories as assigned, assists with cleanup and storage of records, distributes supplies and conducts periodic inventories. Delivers mail daily, lab specimens, and bank deposits.
This position is responsible for Inventory, Receiving, Shipping, Stockroom and Mail Operations
B. Inventory
• Orders bulk supplies according to stock levels and maintains supply levels according to policy and procedure
• Updates database as stock is received and distributed
• Prepares reports; assists in annual inventory
• Routinely checks supply items for expiration dates; removes items from shelves, deletes from inventory, and destroys according to policy
• Fills supply orders and distributes to sites as requested
• Maintains stock using first-in-first-out method to ensure inventory remain accurately accounted for in records
• Keys internal orders into database for pricing and chargeback; sends monthly report
A. Receiving
• Receives and reconciles orders; prepares appropriate paperwork for submission as necessary
• Follows up on items not delivered, partially delivered, damaged, or any other issues
• Answers receiving-related end user questions with accurate information
• Receives and checks in non-order related shipments; notifies appropriate staff; takes special note of deliveries marked “perishable” or time sensitive; ensures picked up/delivered to appropriate personnel immediately
D. Shipping
• Inventories shipping supplies; informs appropriate personnel when stock levels need replenishment
• Maintains shipping supplies at a level that prevents disruptions in operations due to outages
• Receives, classifies, and stores incoming stock consistent with policy and procedure
• Forwards necessary receiving documents to appropriate personnel for proper processing of shipments and for payment consistent with policy and procedures
• Verifies shipping labels are consistent with information provided on invoice; transfers packaged shipments to carrier shipping area; applies carrier shipping labels when necessary
• Ensures packages received are prepared/placed in carrier shipping area in timely manner; selects appropriate size/type of container and packaging materials for shipments
B. Stockroom and Mail Operations
• Ensures cleanliness and safety of stockroom
• Receives deliveries; accurately records data and distributes paperwork
• Ensures applicable incoming stock is properly labeled to differentiate which account it was purchased under
• Receives, sorts, date stamps and delivers incoming mail as required

Minimum Qualifications
• Working knowledge of general storeroom operations and procedures, including inventory control
• Computer and typing skills and the ability to key information into automated databases; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of calculator and familiarity with completing forms/internal documentation
• Ability to lift or move heavy objects up to and including 30 - 60 lbs
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with the public and co-workers
• Strong organizational and customer services skills
Additional Considerations
• Prior experience as a storekeeper responsible for security and issuance of large inventory including office/medical/cleaning/miscellaneous supplies
• Must have a valid driver's license
