Job Duties:

The Vocational Services Department at the Wilson Workforce Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Work Readiness Program Instructor for its Workplace Readiness Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Student Support
• Develop and implement Individualized Intervention Plans for each student.
• Delivers instruction using varied teaching strategies, behavioral techniques, and learning principles.
• Provides individualized instruction and work modifications for students with disabilities.
• Assesses and documents students’ functional abilities daily.

Curriculum & Classroom Management
• Maintains a safe, organized, and motivational learning environment in accordance with Center and Department procedures.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with students, staff, and internal/external partners. Classification: Essential

Progress Monitoring & Case Management
• Establishes, monitors, and revises individualized instructional and education plans.
• Evaluates and documents student progress using departmental assessment tools.
• Participates in interdisciplinary case management meetings and communicates with team members.
• Recommends enhancements, modifications, or termination of student services as appropriate.

Department, Center & Agency Participation
• Participates in committees, workgroups, and projects within the Department, Center, Agency, and professional community.
• Attend Vocational Training Graduations and monthly vocational training staff meetings.
• Completes with all Agency, Center, and Department policies and procedures, including timely completion of administrative documentation.
• Completes assigned projects thoroughly and on schedule.
• Completes all mandatory annual training.


Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of career and technology skills and competencies in the multiple industries, teaching methods and techniques, special education regulations, behavior modification techniques, employment adaptations and accommodations, disability characteristics, assessment techniques.

Skill in classroom management, industrial design and development, communication, curriculum implementation, planning, and instruction.

Ability to: teach students with disabilities, work with others, make decisions, perform problem solving, work independently, and develop individualized educational plans.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required for Entry into Position:

A Collegiate Professional License or Technical Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education (or equivalent issued by another state). A combination of education and experience will be considered but the applicant must be eligible to obtain the required licensure within a three-year period.

Additional Considerations:

Endorsement in Career and Technical Education, adult education, or Special Education.
