Job Duties
This combined Area Manager and Resident Director role is responsible for shaping the environment and experiences of residential students across NSU’s on- and off-campus properties, with a specific focus on non-NSU owned properties (Metro Campus), including Delta Hotel, DoubleTree Hotel, and Proximity at ODU. These properties collectively house nearly 600 students and require dedicated leadership to ensure operational efficiency, student safety, compliance, and engagement. In this capacity, the position supervises the RD for Proximity, the RD for Park Place, and associated hotel staff, providing leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality residential experiences, coordination with property management, and alignment with University policies. The role includes managing off-campus housing operations, assisting with securing additional housing, and serving as the primary liaison to property management to maintain compliance, accountability, and operational standards.
Minimum Qualifications
KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
• Knowledge of residence life policies, operational procedures, and student development theory
• Leadership and supervisory skills for multiple sites and teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and work under pressure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general technology applications
• Willingness to serve as essential personnel for on-call duties
Additional Considerations
Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification required for entry into position:
• Master’s Degree in Education or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of professional housing and residential life experience
• Experience supervising multiple staff members and managing residential communities
• Strong operational, administrative, and leadership experience
