Job Duties

Performs phlebotomy procedures on adult and geriatric populations and processes specimens daily for testing.

 Arrives in the laboratory by 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM to prepare for unit visits; arrives on the patient unit no later than 6:00 or 6:15 AM.
 Makes no more than 2 phlebotomy attempts on a patient and communicates any venipuncture failure or refusal to the MD by following policy 130-06.
 Identifies patients using 2 identifiers per policy 130-06.
 Centrifuges and sorts collected specimens and requests per SOP.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive phlebotomy experience with geriatric and adult patients to include experience with psychiatric populations, basic medical terminology, good communication skills, and basic computer and office skills.

Additional Considerations

Phlebotomy Certification from a nationally recognized agency preferred.
