The Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a part-time (wage) Revenue Processor in Richmond, Virginia. This position supports DCJS’ mission by processing all incoming revenue transactions. What you will do:
• Process revenue collected and refund requests for DCJS in accordance with the Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Reconciles checks received with supporting accounts receivable information.
• Deposits cash and checks on the day received or no later than the end of the next banking day.
• Reconciles credit card transactions with internal systems daily.
• Settles credit card transactions daily after they have been successfully reconciled with internal systems. Any transactions not matching internal systems are forwarded to the Program Area for further information and research.
• Prepares documentation and records all receipts in the Commonwealth’s Financial System (Cardinal) within (3) working days from the date of deposit. This includes credit card receipts, checks, electronic transfers and other receipts.
• Research and notify program areas within (2) working days of notification from banking institutions that a check did not have sufficient funds for payment or that a credit card payment was disputed by a customer.
• Processes refunds as requested by the program area within 2 business days of request.
• Use Adobe software to assemble supporting documentation for revenue transactions and provide the documentation for supervisor review and approval
• Use Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook) to record and communicate transactions and information.
• Key/Use internal and external automated systems to reconcile payments and record receipts.
• Other Accounts Receivable duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience in revenue processing by depositing checks through automated scanning or delivering to financial institutions.
• Experience keying into automated financial systems.
• Experience collecting, analyzing and assembling documentation to support a financial transaction.
• Excellent customer service skills, including effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience performing tasks associated with a fast-paced office environment.
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to enter data into a computer system quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
• Ability to solve problems.
• The ability to learn new skills and subject matters quickly.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office Suite to include, but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and e-mail software, etc.
• Ability to think strategically, cross culturally and independently.
• Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member, as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
• Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in settling credit card transactions.
• Experience reconciling financial transactions.
• Experience with Cardinal, the Commonwealth’s automated financial system.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth’s Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Special Instructions
Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. The individual may also be responsible for submitting an annual Statement of Personal Economic Interest. The starting salary range is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour, up to 29 hours per week (1500 hours per wage year).
