Internship Opportunities:
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) interns (2):
The ideal candidates will have leadership aspirations and are positive, energetic, and have a results-oriented mindset. Reporting directly to the CAO, these two interns will learn about the day-to-day operations of a state agency and will assist with scheduling, proofreading, and coordination efforts. Ideal for candidates with leadership aspirations and strong organizational skills.
Communications intern (1):
This intern will support internal, external, customer and executive communications efforts, write content for multiple channels, create communications plans, help develop creative materials, assist with accessibility compliance and track communications-based metrics. Preferred: communications, PR, or marketing majors.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management (CSRM) interns (5):
The Cybersecurity Risk Management team is looking for five interns:
Threat Management (2):
Investigate cyber threats, develop playbooks, manage vulnerabilities, and support governance. Ideal for technical majors, such as computer science, computer information systems, or cybersecurity.
Security Architecture (1):
Help design/evaluate security architectures and implement best practices. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in cybersecurity architecture, a foundational understanding of security concepts, and a passion for safeguarding organizational assets.
Information Security Program Management (1):
Build a database solution, create databases, forms/views, and work with Power BI and Power Platform. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen technical skills, contribute to real-world projects, and prepare for a career in IT and data-driven solutions.
CSRM Admin (1):
Redesign onboarding, plan meetings, and improve processes. Great for organized, proactive candidates. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop project management, communication, and leadership skills while contributing to initiatives that strengthen team culture and operational efficiency.
Supply Chain Management Intern (1):
The Supply Chain Management (SCM) team is seeking a proactive and analytical intern to provide rotational support in sourcing, market research, financial analysis, risk management, and process improvement. Preferred: IT, finance, supply chain, or business backgrounds. All detail-oriented and analytical students with an interest in technology and supply chain management are encouraged to apply.
Data Engineering & Analytics intern (1):
The Data Engineering team is seeking a motivated and analytical intern to support data analysis, quality validation, dashboards, and reporting using Power BI. Exposure to data pipelines and enterprise platforms. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a degree in data engineering, data analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related field, and while coursework or experience with SQL or data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus, it is not required.
Data Governance intern (1):
The Data Governance team is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical intern to support data management framework development, policy research, and metadata management. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in data science, information management, public administration, computer science, or a related field. Candidates should possess strong research skills, an interest in data ethics and policy, and a foundational understanding of data structures.
Enterprise & Intelligent Solutions interns (3):
The Enterprise & Intelligent Solutions team is looking for three interns:
AI:
Contribute to AI use cases, optimization, testing, and model fine-tuning. This internship will directly contribute to the advancement of VITA’s AI initiatives by accelerating experimentation, strengthening solution quality, and expanding the team’s capacity to innovate.
Enterprise Architecture:
The selected candidate will have opportunities such as contributing to technology strategy, evaluating the environment for technical debt, working on technology standards, and analyzing technology projects. Ideal for a technical-based degree such as computer science or computer information systems.
Business Platform Solutions:
Support Community of Practice events, process documentation, and metrics tracking. Ideal candidates will be customer service-oriented with strong communications skills.
Finance intern (1):
This intern will assist with strategy, performance management, process documentation, and metrics reporting. The ideal candidate must be organized, and detail oriented to support process improvement efforts, understand data, and provide analysis and recommendations. Additional consideration will be given to student candidates pursuing business degrees (accounting, finance, economics, or business administration), but is not required for final selection.
Infrastructure Services interns (4):
The infrastructure services team is seeking four interns in the following offices:
Security Operations: The successful candidate will catalog the security tools in Ardoq, help determine the best visual model, and then create the visual model using Ardoq data.
Project Management Office:
Support technology recompete projects, project coordination and light systems analyst responsibilities. The roles and responsibilities include performing project schedule reviews, project status report follow-up, meeting support and assisting VITA’s project managers where appropriate.
Cloud Services:
Gain hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Google, and Oracle environments. The intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to operational best practices, automation concepts, and cloud architecture patterns, as well as grow skills toward cloud certifications and future cloud engineering roles.
IT Service Management:
Enhance documentation and develop a ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMBD) data dictionary. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a degree in computer information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field. Familiarity with ServiceNow or IT Service Management concepts is a plus.
Internal IT Department Intern (1):
This position will support business solutions, data analysis, testing, and development of Power Apps, AI-enabled solutions, and cloud migration initiatives. Exposure to or interest in AI, machine learning, data analytics, and modern application development is highly desired and will be developed further throughout the internship.
Legal & Legislative Services intern (1):
This position will work with business units across the agency to support public meetings, address compliance requirements, handle Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, support audit coordination/responses, and analyze procurement, contract, and policy matters. This position would be ideal for someone interested in pursuing law, public policy, political science, or for those with an interest in legal, regulatory or compliance work.
Minimum Qualifications
The intern candidate must:
Be at least 18 years of age and enrolled in a two-year, four-year, or graduate-level degree program.
Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for undergraduate level students or 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for graduate student applicants.
Demonstrate strong communication, presentation, organizational and analytical skills.
Have excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills.
Show proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
Be detail-oriented.
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of IT concepts/strategy.
Course work or certification in software/program/application development and design.
Course work or certification in accounting, communications or business administration.
Desktop support, web and system testing.

This is a part-time, hourly position. No state benefits will be offered. Interns can expect to work around 25 hours per week.
