Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is currently hiring a Benefits Administrator (WAGE). The position will provide support to include administrative to the full-time Benefits Consultants. Assistance will include reviewing data for accuracy, processing and reviewing VSDP claims, conducting VNAV reconciliations, responding to employee benefit related inquiries, processing and certifying health care mid-year enrollment applications, FMLA review and approvals/denials and notifications. This role will assist employees with enrollment in health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and other benefits programs. Tracking employee leave balances and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than an average of 29 hours a week and cannot exceed 1500 hours the wage employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or paid leave benefits. This position is located in Richmond, VA.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous Commonwealth of Virginia Employee Benefit experience;
- Experience with reconciling Commonwealth HRIS data to the VRS VNAV system and ensuring accurate data;
- Understanding of health, dental, vision, retirement, and other employee benefit plans, including federal and state regulations;
- Customer service driven individual in a fast-paced environment;
- Accuracy in data entry and administration and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of data, systems, and records;
- Ability to prioritize demands and communicate effectively with management and HR Director;
- Skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Considerations
- Support in managing customer inquiries from HR through issue resolution, training and reporting for a wide array of HR Systems and Agency data resources;
- Experience in customer support of web-based applications.
