Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is hiring for a Sr. QA Automation Engineer for a position within its IT Services Administration at our headquarters location in Richmond, VA.
This is a professional senior automated QA testing position with the responsibility for providing advanced computer analytical, technical, and programming automation development services to support the automated testing of computer applications that are used by the agency's customers and employees. These applications include both Windows/.NET client applications and web applications. Although this position will involve some manual testing, the primary responsibility will be executing automated test scripts developed and implemented using HP UFT and Microsoft Playwright.
In addition, this position will assist with the research, development, integration and implementation of tools, technologies, methods, and systems which expand or enhance automated testing capabilities of the Agency. This advanced senior position will also be involved in mentoring and training other Agency staff on automated QA testing practices as the team grows.

Minimum Qualifications
• Extensive current working experience designing, developing, maintaining, and executing automated regression and performance testing solutions using tools & frameworks such as UFT, FlaUI, Playwright, K6 or other similar tools.
• Experience refactoring existing automation framework to eliminate redundancy and develop more reusable, optimized code.
• Working experience testing applications across a range of technologies including web, mobile, batch processing, web services, and messaging, mainframe, and reporting.
• Experience developing automated web service tests using Postman/REST service API test, SOAP UI Pro, or similar web service testing tools.
• Experience developing automated scripts using programming and scripting languages such as Java, Ruby, JavaScript, VB Script, TypeScript, etc.
• Working experience developing, implementing, and maintaining test data and environments required for testing.
• Experience in designing and developing different test automation frameworks like Keyword-driven, Data-driven, Hybrid, and Business Process Testing (BPT)
• Extensive working experience in debugging automation code to find the root cause of the script failure.
• Extensive working experience integrating automated script execution and reporting with Azure DevOps or similar lifecycle management tools.
• Working experience evaluating, proposing, and helping to implement improvements to automated testing strategies and toolsets that result in increased efficiency and reduced risk.
• Working experience with various errors and exception handling techniques.
• Current working experience mentoring, training, supporting, and providing backup for other QA team members
• Experience with software development methodologies including Agile.
• Effective communication, presentation, and reasoning skills, with the ability to work well in a team oriented, collaborative environment, and with users across all levels of experience.
Additional Considerations
•Working experience in using AI tools to enhance automated testing scripts and frameworks.
•Knowledge of DMV's Change Control Management procedures.
•Knowledge of DMV ITS policies and procedures.
