The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.
This position provides licensure support for the Board of Medicine by managing the applicant eligibility and licensing activities for medicine and surgery military and military spouse license applicants, medicine and surgery licensure by endorsement, medicine and surgery licensure by reciprocity, and license reinstatement. Identify and apply established regulations necessary to analyze licensing processes and ensure that all correspondence is properly prepared and disseminated. Maintain a high level of customer service and accurately process licensing applications.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of Virginia laws and regulations governing medical licensure.
• Knowledge of credentialing and verification processes.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
• Knowledge of online licensing systems and document management tools.
• Skills in reviewing and analyzing complex documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Skills in written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Skills in time management and prioritization in a high-volume environment.
• Skills in customer service and conflict resolution.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory language and procedural guidelines.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting, pay close attention to detail, and complete assigned tasks within established timeframes.
• Demonstrated ability to perform quality assurance of processed documents by
independently reviewing and organizing documents with accuracy in a Windows-
based environment
• Ability to adapt to changes in policy, technology, and workload.
Additional Considerations
Experience in administrative, regulatory, or licensing environments is strongly preferred.
