Hiring Range: $64,050-$75,000 commensurate with experience

Job Duties:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of VRS buildings, and grounds. This position will also serve as the agency’s primary contact for contractors during construction, renovation and repair projects. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical guidance, for a variety of facility projects including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler and security systems, fire safety, emergency preparedness, and equipment acquisition, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Plan and direct all building and grounds operations for the agency
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships; serve as point of contact for agency for construction, renovation and repairs
  • Respond to internal requests for facility services, and when needed, provide technical guidance for various in-house repairs
  • Track preventative maintenance schedules, and manage maintenance checks; including automated fire alarm and sprinkler systems
  • Responsible for landscaping, and grounds maintenance
  • Available on weekends and overnight, as needed
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning, and drills
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for agency facilities
  • Perform analysis and monitoring of agency facility systems
  • Ensure proper organization and management of project documents and records
  • Lead and support new facility agency projects as assigned
  • Create standard operating procedural documentation for facility operations, as needed
  • Perform facility-related administrative duties as required, including, but not limited to, budgeting, purchasing, and receiving
  • Participate in cross-hierarchal teams and contribute to improving services across agency lines
  • Effectively works with all levels of management and staff to improve processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required; a degree in facilities management, engineering, or related technical discipline, preferred
  • Five years’ experience in facilities maintenance, including prior experience maintaining automated fire alarm and sprinkler systems
  • Must have previous supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver’s License, in good standing, required
  • Proficiency in computer software skills, required
  • Must have strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, coordinate activities, and meet deadlines while managing conflicting demands

Additional Considerations:

  • Certification in technical trade, preferred
  • Previous experience of state-operated facilities, preferred
  • Previous experience supervising contractor projects, preferred
  • Knowledge of State purchasing procedures, or state procurement system(s), preferred
