About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Office Services Specialist at the Division V Headquarters in Suffolk, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
• Performs general administrative office activities such as compiling tracking data and due dates, filing electronically, numerically and alphabetically.
• Performs initial intake for Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests as received through NextRequest.
• Serve as the “Share Point Coordinator.”
• Serve as backup Receptionist.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Of general office and clerical practices and procedures.
• Of office equipment.
• Of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage.
Skills:
• In operating computers.
• In using Microsoft Office applications.
Abilities:
• To maintain files, records and rosters.
• To draft correspondence and documents.
• To enter, delete, retrieve, manipulate, and correct information in databases and/or electronic records.
• To analyze records/documents.
• To communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
• To read and comprehend Departmental administrative policies and procedures.
• To redact sensitive numerical and written information within records independently or as instructed.
• To interpret and follow oral and written instructions in performing tasks.
• To work independently and as a member of a team.
• To maintain harmonious working relationships with internal and external customers.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Administrative and general office clerical experience is required.
Additional Considerations
• Experience reviewing and tracking Freedom of Information Act requests preferred.
