The Aviation Education Program Development Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive aviation education programs across the Commonwealth. This position promotes STEM engagement and aviation career awareness, administers the Teachers Grant Program and Lesson Plan Portal, and supports industry partnerships and workforce development through aviation internship opportunities. The role represents the agency at industry, education, and community events and works collaboratively as part of a team to advance aviation education and outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the development of a well-rounded aviation education program. Extensive knowledge of aviation and aviation-related technologies. Understanding of the principles, concepts, strategies, and methodologies of implementing an education program. Diverse experience in the coordination and integration of various aviation programs, including general aviation, emerging aviation technologies, and aviation mechanic education. Ability to positively represent the agency and aviation to media, citizens, elected officials, and aviation stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to identify, organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks to keep projects moving ahead simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently while maintaining momentum and working under stringent deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Considerations

Private Pilot’s license and additional endorsements such as Instrument, Commercial, and Part 107 license. Bachelor’s degree in education, aeronautical science, or related field, or equivalent education and experience; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to work in varied outdoor environments; ability to stand for long periods of time.
