Job Duties
Responsible for computation and disbursement of two semi-monthly payrolls and 26 bi-weekly payrolls for approximately 200 employees and 21 cost centers with an annual budget totaling approximately 80% of the total SVMHI appropriated budget. This includes maintenance of all records that support the accuracy of computation; preparation of all reports that are generated from payroll data; the provision of appropriate information to employees concerning timekeeping; benefits or special actions affecting their paychecks and any supportive clerical and accounting functions required by the Fiscal Services Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Previous work experience in payroll.
This position will also require:
Payroll duties are well defined and routine. They require long periods of isolated concentration on tasks as turnaround time on required data entry and reports is short. Therefore, there is a high degree of job independence. Incumbent for this position must possess a great deal of confidence and ability to work well without direct supervision, under stress and deadlines.
• Federal and State laws governing payroll procedures
• Payroll functions including the calculation of all deductions including federal and state taxes
• Ability to prepare and file accurate and timely payroll tax returns
• Computer knowledge and experience
• Analytical skills and ability to reason through problems and discrepancies
• Detail oriented and good communication skills
