Job Duties
The Virginia War Memorial has the mission to honor Virginia’s Veterans, preserve their history, educate, and inspire patriotism. The Galanti Education Center and C. Kenneth Wright Pavilion serve as the premiere, most active, state war memorial and museum in the nation. To support the Director of Education in planning, resourcing, and executing all education programs for the Virginia War Memorial. Will oversee the VWM’s livestream programs and maintain the veteran database. Conducts research to answer War Memorial-related public inquiries. Serves as schools field trip coordinator as well as develops the Summer Teacher Institute program for educators. Works closely with the Education Director to plan program goals and initiatives both short-range and long-range. Coordinates interns for education. Support VWM Special Initiatives as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with planning and conducting education programming. Experience with museum programming and operations preferred.
Experience with presenting and public speaking, particularly in an academic environment.
Superior organization, planning, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with communications operations, outreach, and social media.
Experience with livestream platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet.
Experience working within a team and interacting with customers and/or visitors.
Problem-solving experience and attention to detail.
Familiarity with our military and veteran communities.
Additional Considerations
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in history or related field preferred
