The Development team at JYF is largely responsible for the fundraising efforts in support of the non-profit arm of the Foundation.
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for charitable and educational purposes in support of the Foundation’s programs and its museums, Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The JYF, Inc. cultivates donors, expands funding, contributes to program development and stewards resources to strengthen the Foundation’s museums.
Job Duties
The Philanthropy-Fundraising Intern will assist Development staff with planning and executing our fundraising event, Legacy and Liberty. Further, the successful candidate will assist with researching new and potential donors while also helping create new and meaningful donor experiences that support our mission. These projects will include a great deal of logistics and collaboration with internal departments, staff, donors and volunteers, as well as outside vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Basic knowledge of databases
- Familiarity with internet research
- Any prior event experience a plus
- Strong communication and public engagement skills to include; written, oral and active listening.
Additional Considerations
Must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed at least 1 year in a higher education or a skilled trade or a tech program.
