Job Duties

The Leave Coordinator independently performs internal HR functions in the areas of Benefits and Leave, providing full life cycle claim administration, VDSP, and Parental Leave support. Responsible for interpreting and applying policies, procedures and regulations and providing leave or benefits consultation in support of a district or office. Notifies, prepares, and submits personnel leave or benefits transactions and associated paperwork for review by supervisor in personnel tracking systems. May conduct HR training and consultation for employees using pre-established training and orientation materials. This position assists and supports leave and benefits transactions entered into the agency leave tracking system. Responsibilities include leave maintenance, leave audits and reconciliation support, and leave related training and system development support. Ensures that all leave transactions are properly recorded into leave system in accordance with DOA and DHRM policies and procedures. Works closely with Senior Leave Coordinator and OHR Benefits staff on leave policy updates and VSDP and FMLA leave transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of leave policies and procedures, such as annual leave, Disability, FMLA, Parental Leave, and other non-standard leave types (civil, military, etc.)
• Knowledge of leave reconciliation, leave audit practices, and records maintenance
• Experience with the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
• Proficiency in a variety of software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Additional Considerations

• Knowledge of DHRM and DOA leave policies and procedures
• Working knowledge of HRIS Leave System/Cardinal leave and/or similar system preferred
• Working knowledge of leave management and oversight within a COV agency preferred
