Job Duties

The District Senior Human Resource Analyst provides advanced-level human resources support and consultation to assigned district leadership, managers, and employees within the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). This position delivers more complex guidance in classification and compensation, recruitment and staffing, employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and compliance to ensure equitable, efficient, and legally sound HR operations aligned with VDH’s mission and workforce goals.

The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and employment laws, in the areas of classification and compensation, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate workforce data, interpret policies, develop recommendations, and ensure consistent applications of policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate complex HR concepts clearly and professionally to leadership, managers, and employees.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Skill in consulting, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and providing customer-focused HR services.
• Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Considerations

• Progressive experience/training in Human Resources, Business or related field
• Working knowledge of Human Resource policies & procedures
