Job Duties
Looking for a multi trade Maintenance Worker. Make routine installations including but not limited to: plumbing repairs and installations, drain cleaning and maintenance, bulletin boards, light bulbs, starters, electric cord ends, faucet valve seals and window shades. Clean, service, lubricate, and repair minor malfunctions in; air filters, plumbing traps, (unplug drains), ice-making machines, water fountains, roof drains and spouts, and outside areas. Clean air-handling rooms and other shop areas. Obtain a working knowledge of all building systems and operations. Perform preventive maintenance on AHU’s: change filters, belts as needed. Adjust belts and grease units. Keep units clean. Recondition and repair of resident room fan coil units. Elopement protection. Monitor facility for safety issues and correct any found. Perform annual bed entrapment testing. Record routine building checks. Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in clean, safe and orderly condition. Make repairs to equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, sprinklers, lawn mowers, etc. Drywall patch/repair and room painting. Refer major problems to department Director. Pick up and deliver materials as well as other facility errands. Perform all electrical as needed/required for the facility. Work with telephones, data lines, nurse call and elopement systems as needed. Replace bad bulbs for all facility lighting. Have/or obtain knowledge of grounds procedures and operations. Maintain appearance of all DMVCC property. Assist in removal of snow and ice. Assist groundskeeper as needed and or required. Upkeep and repair of hand and power tools and equipment. Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the Maintenance department’s mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility. Conduct in-service training. This employee is considered essential personnel. As a Purchasing Card holder you must follow all of the policy and procedures for having a purchasing card. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. Serves in an on-call rotation for the Maintenance department.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. At lease two years experience in general maintenance. Drywall repair, painting, flooring, carpentry and plumbing, experience a plus. Valid Virginia driver’s license is required.
