Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Technology Internal Auditor Senior to join our Internal Audit team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by evaluating and strengthening the Commonwealth’s IT and information security environment. In this role, you will:
Perform a variety of information technology and information security audits with considerable independence under the direction of the Internal Audit Director and/or Internal Audit Manager.
Evaluate IT and information security controls to identify risks, assess the effectiveness of existing processes, and provide insight into opportunities for enhancement.
Conduct all phases of the audit process, including preparation, risk assessment, documentation review, test work, and communication of results.
Develop reasonable, proactive recommendations and draft clear, well structured audit reports for management.
Present audit findings in a professional and collaborative manner.
Perform follow up and remediation testing on prior audit issues to ensure appropriate resolution.
Assist with investigations, hotline complaints, external audit support, and other special projects as assigned.
Work closely and constructively with Information Technology and Information Security teams throughout all audit activities.
Lead less experienced auditors in the planning, executing and reporting audit phases.

The anticipated salary will range from $80,000-$104,000, which will be based on experience and qualifications.
This position is located at our Richmond, Virginia location in the Main Street Center building, 600 East Main Street.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule once fully trained.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience with working knowledge of internal auditing principles, practices, and standards.
A solid understanding of information technology systems, controls, and emerging technology trends.
Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret and evaluate complex information.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain issues and recommendations.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to assess business needs, risks, and operational environments effectively.
At least some experience leading audit projects and communicating with Executive Management.
Additional Considerations
Advanced level of relevant experience, education and knowledge in areas of audit, information technology, as well as local, state and federal government experience will be taken into account during the screening process.
