Job Duties
To provide administrative/clerical support for Hospitality Management Department's leadership, faculty,
students, and maintenance of programmatic accreditation, including documentation. Also, serves as a
liaison between internal offices, vendors, contractors, and external affiliates. Oversees the Hospitality
Management Department's physical facility activities and special projects, program recruitment and
marketing initiatives, as well as special event and meeting planning. Takes full responsibility for work study employment and supervision.
The Hospitality Management Program is dedicated to providing students with a high-quality education
that equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the hospitality industry. To
support the program's growth and impact, increasing student enrollment is a key priority, ensuring that
more individuals have access to opportunities in this dynamic field.
A central goal of the program is to develop competent managers and leaders who can excel in various
sectors of hospitality, including hotels, restaurants, and tourism. Additionally, maintaining the
accreditation process is essential to upholding academic standards, guaranteeing that the curriculum
remains aligned with industry expectations and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and/or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
- Knowledge of administrative and office operations in higher education.
- Familiarity with university and Virginia policies related to travel, procurement, and finance, or ability to learn quickly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office systems; ability to learn new platforms and enterprise systems (e.g., Chrome River, eVA, Banner or similar).
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide professional, responsive customer service.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Ability to coordinate meetings, events, and program activities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, problem‑solve, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Experience with office management functions, including scheduling and records management.
Additional Considerations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in business administration, office administration, hospitality management, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative or office support in a professional setting.
- Experience in a higher education environment preferred.
- Experience supporting financial, travel, or procurement processes preferred.
