Job Duties

Assists with administration of the facility, consistent with Agency and facility philosophy, in a manner and within industry standards that enables it to use resources effectively and efficiently to attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well being of each resident. Assists establishing and implementing goals, objectives, operational standards, and procedures for the facility to maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies and requirements such as Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and State budgetary guidelines, in accordance with accepted professional standards and principles. Provides advice and guidance to department managers as needed. Makes frequent rounds throughout the facility. Assists and provides education to managers and staff members as needed. May assist with reviewing and setting realistic budgetary and financial goals established with available resources in relation to facility and resident needs, financial and personnel resources. Strives to assure that cost and revenue management allows the facility to operate within statutory provisions of the Appropriations Acts to ensure that a deficit or debt does not occur. Strives to ensure that required fiscal reports and documents are submitted in accordance with regulations. Ensures, within reasonable expectations, compliance with corrective action plans in response to financial, procurement, and personnel audits. Reviews above action plans with the Administrator as needed / requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator by the Virginia Nursing Home Administrators Licensure Board/Department of Health Professions. Previous experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing or adult geriatric setting desirable.

Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations governing nursing home or long term care administration, facility maintenance and operations. Ability to formulate, execute and monitor an annual operating budget. Ability to interact effectively with residents, employees, supervisors, government officials and the general public.
