Job Duties
The equipment and applications specialist position is responsible for supporting the Nottoway Campus (PGH/VCBR) in Computer Information Technology Tech II, managing network functions, equipment purchases, modifying system configurations, changing system/ equipment specs, defining attached devices. Networking of equipment, performance monitoring, and fiber support will be maintained with this role. Maintains the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of related data throughout the campus. This position will need advanced technical abilities with computer systems and networks.

• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Proven capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced knowledge of Information Technology, including Windows operating systems and Windows Server environments.
• Extensive expertise in networking concepts, including network infrastructure, topology mapping, and configuration.
• Proficient in fiber optic technology and connectivity solutions.
• In-depth understanding of computer hardware, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking, system administration, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and LAN design.
• Advanced experience in server administration, configuration, and maintenance.
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems and technologies, and to apply that knowledge to enhance current and future IT operations.
This position is required to serve in an on-call capacity to provide timely support for critical IT systems and ensure continuity of operations outside of normal business hours. The on-call responsibility is essential to maintaining system availability, addressing urgent technical issues, and supporting the organization’s 24/7 operational needs.

• Valid Driver’s License
• Experience with a diverse array of information technology, software, and hardware
