Job Duties

This position is open to current state employees only. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an Administrative Operations Supervisor to join the Motor Carrier IFTA/IRP team. The Administrative Operations Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the IFTA/IRP Administrative Operations team, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and DMV policies. This role supervises staff, resolves escalated issues, and monitors operational workflows to support DMV’s revenue collection and compliance objectives of the IFTA, IRP, PRISM and EZFleet programs. The Supervisor collaborates with stakeholders to maintain service delivery standards, implement process improvements, and ensure audit readiness.
Motor Carrier Services' IRP and IFTA Division administers multijurisdictional programs for the payment of vehicle registration fees and fuel use taxes by businesses who operate in interstate and international commerce. The Division also supports state and federal highway safety programs by identifying motor carriers with serious safety deficiencies and preventing them from operating on the roads.

Minimum Qualifications

•Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide staff, improve workflows, and ensure compliance with standards
•Prior supervisory experience overseeing administrative or motor carrier program staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, coaching employees, and ensuring adherence to policies and service‑level expectations
•Ability to interpret and explain complex regulatory and technical information
•Proficiency in PC use and technology, including Microsoft Office and operational data tools
•Excellent communication skills for team leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and customer interactions
•Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to multitask in high‑demand settings
•Advanced operational and workflow‑management skills to oversee high‑volume transactions and team performance
•Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial reconciliation principles

Additional Considerations

•Supervisory experience in motor carrier programs, compliance and financial reconciliation.
•Experience in motor carrier program management, regulatory compliance (federal and state motor carrier regulations and tax policies), audit preparation and supervisory roles.
