Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.

The Human Resources Coordinator will support the administration of employee benefit programs by processing transactions in Cardinal Human Capital Management (HCM) and other HRIS, facilitating new hire orientation, maintaining employee personnel records, and providing customer service to DHP workforce.

This is not a fully remote position, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to telework up to 2 days a week following the completion of an initial training/acclimation period. Telework approval is at the discretion of the supervisor and is not guaranteed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of employee group benefit programs, policies, procedures, and activities.
• Ability to understand, interpret and apply benefit policies and procedures and communicate same to staff.
• Ability to review and synthesize organizational data to key/process transactions in HRIS to completion and with accuracy.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to work productively in a team environment.
• Experience with MS Office Suite, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), and Time, Attendance and Leave software.
• Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of administrative office procedures and practices, including paper and digital file maintenance.
• Ability to evaluate and process documents, and to collect (download, open, save) and maintain data in both electronic and paper forms.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work to timely and accurately accomplish duties.
• Demonstrated ability to compose correspondence and reports requiring close attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to use formulas and advanced tools in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to efficiently process large quantities of data relevant to business tasks.
• High enthusiasm and desire to help others.
• Ability to promptly identify, analyze and resolve issues.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Additional Considerations

Human resources experience in a public sector environment.
