Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for a creative, energetic and strategic leader to serve as its next Highway Safety Marketing Manager — a role where communications meets public service and where your work can truly help save lives on Virginia roadways.
This isn’t your typical marketing job.
As the Highway Safety Marketing Manager, you’ll help lead high-visibility statewide safety campaigns seen by millions of Virginians. From collaborating with the Virginia Highway Safety Office’s advertising agency on bold creative concepts to planning press events, community activations and public outreach campaigns, this role is at the center of some of the Commonwealth’s most innovative highway safety initiatives.
One day you may be helping launch a statewide media campaign focused on seat belt use or speeding prevention. The next, you could be coordinating a major public event, supporting a press conference with agency leadership, developing messaging strategies or partnering with law enforcement, schools, sports organizations, and nonprofit groups to amplify lifesaving messages.
Reporting directly to the Director of Highway Safety, this position oversees marketing, communications, media relations and outreach strategies for the Virginia Highway Safety Office while supervising assigned staff and helping shape the future of roadway safety in Virginia.
The Virginia Highway Safety Office is dedicated to reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities through data-driven strategies, innovative public engagement and strong partnerships across the Commonwealth. Our team believes behavior change can save lives — and we use creativity, storytelling, research and outreach to make that happen.
We’re looking for someone who is:
• Creative and strategic
• Passionate about public service
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and campaigns
• Excited to think big and try new ideas
• Skilled in communications, outreach and relationship building
• Ready to make a measurable impact on the safety of Virginia communities
If you’re looking for a meaningful communications career where your work matters every single day, we’d love to hear from you.
