The Information Technology team at the Department of Accounts (DOA) is seeking a qualified current state employee for a Systems Engineer position.
DOA’s mission is to provide a uniform system of accounting, financial reporting, and internal control adequate to protect and account for the Commonwealth’s financial resources, while supporting and enhancing the recognition of Virginia as the best managed state in the union. The unit's goal is to deliver business solutions and infrastructure technologies leveraging best of class tools to modernize, streamline, secure, and improve operations in support of the agency’s mission.
Job Duties
To serve as a Systems Engineer for the agency's web platforms and technology services. Manages and coordinates technical activities and infrastructure needs with VITA and its infrastructure providers. Performs server, database, network, and security administration functions. Ensures the availability and performance of the agency's applications and technology tools. Develops detailed technical architecture design and solutions for new projects and enhancements. Provides expert technical support to agency.
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of server, storage, networking, security to include certificates, encryption, Active Directory and database administration.
Extensive skills administering windows servers, SQL Server databases, load balancing, integration and data exchange technologies, Adobe ColdFusion, and .NET.
Skills in security monitoring and baselining tools, backup and recovery, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to identify and resolve complex and critical server, database, security or networking issues and to troubleshoot issues especially in the areas of SEC 530, SQL Server, Azure DevOps, Git and SharePoint.
Experience managing and architecting infrastructure solutions to deliver highly available systems.
Experience serving as a technical lead in a large, complex IT environment.
Additional Considerations
Post-Secondary Education or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering field preferred.
Familiarity with SEC 530, Azure DevOps, Git and SharePoint preferred.
This position has a hybrid schedule and must work at least 3 days/week in the office in downtown Richmond, VA.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and may be required to work outside of business hours (evenings or weekends) on occasion to support business unit and agency demands.
